Committees have been created to implement the goals and objectives of the organization. These work groups provide opportunities for members to contribute ideas and expertise, while working together and learning from one another. Leadership skills are developed and members are encouraged to pursue board service within the SCBA or the community.

Committees are only visible to members of that specific committee. If you're interested in joining a committee, click on a committee name below and you'll be taken to the committee home page, however you'll see a message stating that the group is private. On that page click on the Request Membership icon (shown below), and your request will be reviewed by the committee.

Periodically reviews sufficiency of internal controls, reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and oversees audits by external auditors, when used.
Dissemintes information that will advance the cause of the SCBA and is responsible for Awards, Website, the Docket, Press Releases and the Law & Sarasota Television Program.
Dedicated to the ideals of diversity and inclusion by educating, encouraging and enriching the law profession and the community through instructive workshops, artistic and theatrical presentations. A summer intern scholarship program for students in law schools, along with support of the Booker High School Law Academy, including a Mock Trial Competition, are just some of the initiatives promoted by the Committee.
The Executive Committee remains as a seperate committee as set forth in Article III, Section 5(e) of the Bylaws.
Responsible for reviewing and providing guidance for financial matters, including the updating of SCBA financial policies. Assures internal controls, independent audit, and financial analysis for the organization. Assists with annual budget planning process that would include input from YLD and SCD treasurers.
Maintains, reviews and revised operating policies and procedures of the Board. Will maintain and revise Bylaws and is responsible for contract reviews.
Responsible for the recruitment, retention and engagement of members.
Seeks and recommends candidates for SCBA Board and officer positions. Three members at-large are appointed at the January Board of Directors Meeting.
Identifies, facilitates and encourages opportunities & activites for members.
A Task Force shall be created to address a particular issue that is of limited duration and each one shall report to the Chair of the Committee that is most relevant to that particular task force.
Enhances communication and practice among bar members and Second DCA judges and staff.
Plans all-day continuing legal education program to improve the administration of justice and collegiality among the bench and bar. .
Clerk of Court Liaison promotes communication among bar members and all facets of circuit court clerk and court administration.
Enhances communication and practice among bar members, the criminal division of the circuit and county courts, and the Office of the State Attorney and Office of the Public Defender.
Enhances communication and practice among bar members in Federal Middle District and Federal Bar Association.
Implements biennial judicial evaluation poll (in odd-numbered years).
