|Law and Sarasota|
In 2005, in partnership with Education Channel of Sarasota County, the Sarasota County Bar Association created an ongoing series of television programs focused on Sarasota’s legal community. Hosted by Attorney N. Adam Tebrugge, nearly 50 episodes have been filmed on such topics as code enforcement, the Affordable Health Care Act, workman’s compensation, education law, injunctions for protection, foreclosures, estate tax and planning and Social Security Disability. Interviews with judges, a Florida Bar President, law school dean and leaders with the Sarasota County Bar Association rounded out the presentations. With a grant from the Florida Bar Foundation, a video outlining the criminal justice system from arrest through trial was produced in English and Spanish. Many of the programs have been uploaded onto YouTube where they can be found at TheEdChannel20. The series was recognized in 2006 with the LexisNexis/National Association of Bar Executives Community & Educational Outreach Award.
The 2016 season of Law and Sarasota will feature new host Senior Judge Lee E. Haworth. Program topics include adult consequences of juvenile delinquency and information about the innovative and new "Baby Court." Judge Haworth will also introduce several local judges who make decisions that impact lives in our community. Now retired, Judge Haworth was recognized for developing procedures to address the foreclosure crisis and was recently honored the Florida Center's 2016 Champion For Children.
