W.E. "Chip" Gaylor


W. E. "Chip" Gaylor received his B.A. from Asbury College in 1986, his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at the American University in 1989, and his LL.M. (Master of Laws in Estate Planning) from the University of Miami Law School in 1990. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and Sarasota County Bar Association, and is a member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of both bar associations, and was Past Chair of the local bar section. He is also a member of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council.


Attorney Gaylor served on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc., was chair from 1995 to 1997, and currently Muirhead, Gaylor & Steves, L.L.P. serves as general counsel to the Foundation. He joined the New College Library Association Board in 1998 and was elected President for two terms in 2000. In 2003 he was elected to the board of the New College Foundation, where he is now Chair of the Development Committee. He served on the board of SCOPE (Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence) from 2002-2006. In 1999 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Council of Foundationsheadquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently in his second year as Board Chair. Additionally, he has served on the boards of the Sarasota County Arts Council; American Cancer Society (Venice Chapter); the Laurel Civic Association and Community Aids Network.


Attorney Gaylor has served as an adjunct professor at Manatee Community College. He is a native of Sarasota County and in his spare time enjoys traveling, fishing, scuba diving, and tennis.
