About the SCBA

The Sarasota County Bar Association (SCBA) is a voluntary organization of lawyers and judges who practice law and administer our judicial system in Sarasota County. Incorporated on January 20, 1960, the SCBA has existed as an association since 1926. The affairs of the SCBA are managed by its officers and Board of Directors with the assistance of a full-time Executive Director.

To fulfill goals enunciated in its mission statement and articles of incorporation, the SCBA's over 1,000 members stay involved and connected through ten (10) practice sections; a Young Lawyers Division; a South County Division; and a Council for Diversity and Inclusion.

As a service to its members, The Docket, an award winning newsletter, is published ten (10) months a year, and provides information about substantive areas of the law, upcoming events and special interest features.

Mission

As a leader of the local legal community, the Sarasota County Bar Association serves our membership by advancing professionalism, promoting practice development, and fostering fellowship.
