Richard R. Garland Diversity Scholarship Program

The Sarasota County Bar Association endeavors to foster a more diverse legal community truly inclusive of the diverse community of Sarasota County by establishing a dialogue among Bar members, educating the public about the Bar's diversity programs, and by seeking collaborations with local organizations who share our mission to promote diversity and the benefits of inclusion. All proceeds from its community events benefit the Committee's scholarship and outreach efforts.

Since 2007, the SCBA Council for Diversity and Inclusion has provided over $130,000 in scholarships to minority law school students, sponsored over 1,000 high school students to local cultural events promoting diversity, and volunteered over 400 hours at Booker High School Law Academy and other local schools.
